- The forces are generated by dead weigt loading under consideration of the drive-up
of the air, the local gravity, an the fact that the ration between the smallest
and the biggest force does not surmount 1:1.5;
- The measuring of the depth of indention will be executed according to the principle
of ABBE and consequently errors of the first rank are excluded;
- The execution of the test procedure is time controlled and reproduceable (with
restrictions when executed by hand control);
- The measuring of the indentations in the test surface is executed by special
microscopes; and
- The table for mounting the hardness standardizing test blocks must not be adjustible
with respect height for avoiding spindle-lead.
The vast range of forces and the variety of the different test prcedures when
measuring according to Brinell, Rockwell, and Vickers require test machines, which
can be used for a limited part of the total measuring range only. |
