Characteristics
- Determination of the flame propagation through electrical cables and wires
The test equipment is used for testing with horizontal and vertical test specimen arrangement.
Vertically oriented test specimen
The cable under test is exposed to a 500 W flame (125 mm high) three times for 60 seconds with an interval of 30 seconds. This determines whether the flame is propagated longitudinally.
Horizontally oriented test specimen
The cable under test is exposed to a 225 W flame (50 mm high) for 30 seconds. This determines whether the flame is propagated longitudinally.
The tests provide information on whether the specimens leak or release emissions into the environment during flame impingement.
