Glow wire testing device GPD DIN EN IEC 60695-2-10

Characteristics

  • Tests with a glow wire for evaluating fire hazard.

The device is used to test the fire resistance properties of electrotechnical products and materials under IEC 60695-2-11, IEC 60695-2-12 and IEC 60695-2-13.The glow wire represents the fire source. The temperature is set in the software and controlled via a temperature controller, whereby the temperature controller is switched to manual mode during a test in order to achieve a fixed voltage signal at the control variable (glow wire) and thus avoid feedback of the control variable (temperature) to the temperature controller. The temperature at the glow wire is measured via an infrared sensor and can be set from 400 - 1000 °C. During the test, the sample is moved back and forth at a constant speed of approx. 11 mm/s to the glow wire. The dwell time between the sample and the glow wire can be variably set via a timer in the software. The effective value of the current flowing through the glow wire is displayed in the software. The sample table is pulled against the glow wire with a force of 1 N during the test. Specimens from 50 x 120 mm to 120 x 120 mm can be clamped in the specimen holder. The specimen thickness can be a maximum of 20 mm.

The device is controlled by the device software, which is installed on a notebook or Mini PC. It controls the temperature of the glow wire and the linear drive of the sample holder carriage. The temperature of the pyrometer is displayed here, as is the setting of the penetration depth. Tests are started with the software and carried out automatically.
